Sarah Asleep

Julian Dyson

In this drawing by Julian Dyson of Sarah Asleep, from 1972, the artist's line displays the influence of both David Hockney and Lucian Freud. The early 1970s was a period of somewhat formal self-training for Dyson, in which the artist expressed his admiration for the artists that inspired him, and through which would ultimately shape his free drawings of the later period.
