Single Form (Sun and Moon)

Barbara Hepworth

"We are so placed here, geographically, that both sun and moon rise and set over the water with a great radiance and this fact sets up a remarkable tension in my everyday life."
Barbara Hepworth on St Ives.

Of the four casts made of this work (BH 431) all, including the artist's cast, had left the studio by the end of 1968. An unique version, cast in gold (BH 418), can be seen in studio photographs from the period and remained with the artist until her death.

Cast 1/3 is in the permanent collection and display of Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery.
